     He fought in the Crimean War.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹ He was awarded the Knight Commander, Order of the Rose of Brazil.¹ He was awarded the Knight Commander, Order of the Crown of Italy.¹ He was awarded the Knight Commander, Order of Charles VII of Spain.¹ He was awarded the Order of Merit of Spain.¹ He lived at Westhope, Craven Arms, Shropshire, England^G.¹

     John Ward married Henrietta Lister-Kaye, daughter of Sir John Lister-Kaye, 1st Bt. and Lady Amelia Grey, on 4 February 1836.² He died on 13 October 1840.²

     Amelia Susan Ward was the daughter of John Ward and Henrietta Lister-Kaye.^2,1 She married Colonel Henry Clement Swinnerton Dyer, son of Sir Thomas Swinnerton Dyer, 9th Bt. and Mary Anne Clement, on 6 April 1869.¹ She died on 3 January 1903.¹
     From 6 April 1869, her married name became Dyer.

     Sir Leonard Whitworth Swinnerton Dyer, 14th Bt. was born on 30 October 1875.¹ He was the son of Colonel Henry Clement Swinnerton Dyer and Amelia Susan Ward.² He married Lucy Schroeder, daughter of Hon. Francis Schroeder, on 12 June 1897.¹ He died on 19 August 1947 at age 71.¹
     He fought in the First World War.¹ He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in 1914 in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.¹ He succeeded as the 14th Baronet Dyer, of Tottenham, co. Middlesex [E., 1678] on 2 August 1940.¹
