     Sir Ambrose Hardinge Giffard was born in 1771.¹ He was the son of John Giffard and Sarah Morton.² He married Harriet Pennell, daughter of Lovell Pennell, in 1808.¹ He died in April 1827.¹
     He was appointed Knight in 1819.¹ He held the office of Chief Justice of Ceylon.¹

     Lovell Pennell is the son of Lovell Pennell.
     He lived at Lyme Regis, Dorset, England^G, Lyme Regis.¹

     Harriet Pennell is the daughter of Lovell Pennell.² She married Sir Ambrose Hardinge Giffard, son of John Giffard and Sarah Morton, in 1808.¹
     Her married name became Giffard.

     Admiral Sir George Giffard was the son of Sir Ambrose Hardinge Giffard and Harriet Pennell.² He died on 8 March 1895.¹
     He gained the rank of Admiral.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)¹

     Edward Giffard was born in 1812.¹ He was the son of Sir Ambrose Hardinge Giffard and Harriet Pennell.² He married Rosamunde Catherine Pennell, daughter of William Pennell, in 1844.¹
     He was Secretary of the Transport Board.¹

     Rosamunde Catherine Pennell is the daughter of William Pennell. She married Edward Giffard, son of Sir Ambrose Hardinge Giffard and Harriet Pennell, in 1844.¹
     From 1844, her married name became Giffard.

     John Harding Giffard was born in 1847.¹ He was the son of Edward Giffard and Rosamunde Catherine Pennell.²
     He was Clerk of the Admiralty.¹ He was director of Greenwich Hospital.¹

     Edward Walter Giffard was born in 1861.¹ He was the son of Edward Giffard and Rosamunde Catherine Pennell.² He married Lady Constance Mary Evelyn Giffard, daughter of Hardinge Stanley Giffard, 1st Earl of Halsbury and Wilhelmina Woodfall, on 21 April 1902.¹ He died on 8 March 1938.¹
     He lived at Charts Edge, Weserham, Kent, England^G.¹
