     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches and wounded twice.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Field Artillery.¹ He was awarded the Cruz de Guerra Portuguese.¹

     Jane Jones married Norman Philpot Robert Noel, son of Captain Robert Lascelles Gambier Noel and Letitia Louisa Carmela Koelle, on 1 October 1927.¹
     Her married name became Noel.

     John Andrew Vernatti Noel was born on 23 May 1893.¹ He was the son of Captain Robert Lascelles Gambier Noel and Letitia Louisa Carmela Koelle.² He married Marion Shanks Wylie, daughter of John Shanks Wylie, on 1 May 1923.¹ He died on 24 January 1966 at age 72.¹
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Garrison Artillery.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Flying Corps.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Artillery.¹

     John Shanks Wylie lived at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹

     Marion Shanks Wylie was the daughter of John Shanks Wylie.² She married John Andrew Vernatti Noel, son of Captain Robert Lascelles Gambier Noel and Letitia Louisa Carmela Koelle, on 1 May 1923.¹ She died on 31 October 1959.¹
     From 1 May 1923, her married name became Noel.

     Dr. Anthony Robert Alistair Noel was born on 19 January 1927.¹ He was the son of John Andrew Vernatti Noel and Marion Shanks Wylie.² He married Marthina Cornelia Rousseau, daughter of Dirk Johannes Rousseau, on 28 February 1958.¹ He died in 1984.¹
     He graduated from London University, London, England^G, in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)¹ He was a Lecturer between 1949 and 1954 at Nottingham University, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England^G.¹ He was a Lecturer between 1954 and 1959 at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, Cape Province, South Africa^G.¹ He was a Lecturer in 1959 at University College of Rhodesia and Nysaland, Harare, Zimbabwe^G.¹ He graduated from London University, London, England^G, in 1965 with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Horticultural Society (F.R.Hort.S.)¹

     Dirk Johannes Rousseau lived at Krugersdorp, Transvaal, South Africa^G, Krugersdorp.¹

     Marthina Cornelia Rousseau is the daughter of Dirk Johannes Rousseau.² She married Dr. Anthony Robert Alistair Noel, son of John Andrew Vernatti Noel and Marion Shanks Wylie, on 28 February 1958.¹
     From 28 February 1958, her married name became Noel. She lived in 2003 at 4 The Park Gardens, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa^G.¹

     Darwin John Robert Noel was born on 15 September 1958.¹ He is the son of Dr. Anthony Robert Alistair Noel and Marthina Cornelia Rousseau.²

     John Edward Barham Noel was born on 22 November 1929.¹ He was the son of John Andrew Vernatti Noel and Marion Shanks Wylie.² He married Grace Vera Paul, daughter of Arthur Paul, on 16 August 1952.¹ He died on 1 September 1954 at age 24, on active service.¹
     He gained the rank of Corporal in the Royal Air Force.¹
