Alexander Henderson, 1st Baron Faringdon
Alexander Henderson, 1st Baron Faringdon was born on 28 September 1850.2 He was the son of George Henderson and Eliza Cockshott.3 He married Jane Ellen Davis, daughter of Edward William Davis, on 2 September 1874.2 He died on 17 March 1934 at age 83.2
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal Unionist) for West Staffordshire between 1898 and 1906.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Berkshire.2 He was created 1st Baronet Henderson [U.K.] on 5 August 1902.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Berkshire in 1912.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal Unionist) for St. George’s Hanover Square between 1913 and 1915.2 He was created 1st Baron Faringdon, of Buscot Park, co. Berks. [U.K.] on 24 January 1916.2 He was appointed Companion of Honour (C.H.) in 1917.2 He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)2 He was deputy chairman of the LNER in 1934.2
