     Margaret Doig was born on 16 March 1891 at Rakaia, Canterbury, New Zealand^G.^1,2 She was the daughter of Thomas Doig and Eliza Ann Strachan.¹ She married Richard Edgar Leslie Hampton, son of Benjamin Hampton and Sarah Jane Hampton, on 1 April 1918.¹ She died on 11 October 1936 at age 45.^3,1 She was buried at Ashburton Public Cemetery, Ashburton, New Zealand^G, plot 3486.³
     She was a farmer at Newlands, Canterbury, New Zealand^G.⁴ From 1 April 1918, her married name became Hampton.¹

     Richard Edgar Leslie Hampton was born on 13 October 1891 at Ashburton, New Zealand^G.^1,2 He was the son of Benjamin Hampton and Sarah Jane Hampton.³ He married Margaret Doig, daughter of Thomas Doig and Eliza Ann Strachan, on 1 April 1918.¹ He died on 1 April 1957 at age 65.^1,4 He was buried at Ashburton Public Cemetery, Ashburton, New Zealand^G, plot 3486.⁴
     He was a farmer in 1918 at Preston Farm, Newlands, Canterbury, New Zealand^G.^5,6 Richard served in the Mounted Rifles Brigade Reinforcements, 1st NZEF on 9 August 1918 as a private 58125. He sailed as part of the 39th Reinforcements, on the S.S.
