William Lundy was born on 12 December 1860 at Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, IrelandG.2,1,3 He was the son of James Lundy and Sarah Rusk. He married Elizabeth Chambers, daughter of James Chambers and Annie Jane Chambers, on 16 June 1891 at St. Finbarr’s Parish Church, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, IrelandG, in a Church of Ireland marriage.4 He died on 13 December 1937 at age 77 at 98 Thomson Street, Tinwald, Ashburton, New ZealandG.5,3 He was buried at Ashburton Public Cemetery, Ashburton, New ZealandG.6
He was a farmer on 16 June 1891 at Latinalbany, County Monaghan, IrelandG.4 He was a labourer on 5 July 1896 at Wakanui, Canterbury, New ZealandG.1

William James Lundy1 
William James Lundy also went by the nick-name of Jim.6 He was a mechanic before 1917 at Wakanui, Canterbury, New ZealandG.7 William served in the Rifle Brigade Reinforcement, G Company, 1st NZEF on 26 April 1917 as a rifleman 47158. William went to France on the “Turakina”, as part of the 25th Reinforcement..8 Circa 1918 he visited his relations in Carrickmacross, County Monaghan while on leave from the war.6 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.
