Sir John Lees, 1st Bt. is the son of Adam Lees.3 He married Mary Cathcart, daughter of Robert Cathcart, on 20 October 1766.4 He died in September 1811.4
He held the office of Secretary at War.2 He held the office of Secretary of the Post Office [Ireland].2 He held the office of Usher of the Black Rod.2 He was Private Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.4 He served in the Army in Germany under the Marquess of Granby.4 He was created 1st Baronet Lees, of Black Rock, co. Dublin [U.K.] on 30 June 1804.4
