He was commissioned on 12 November 1688 by King William III.1 He fought in the War of Spanish Succession.1 He fought in the Battle of Cádiz in 1702.1 He fought in the Battle of Vigo in 1702.1 He fought in the Battle of Gibraltar in 1704.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel on 7 April 1705 in the Luttrell’s Marines.1 He fought in the Campaign of Toulon in 1708.1 He fought in the Battle of Cagliari in 1708.1 On 11 April 1713 Luttrell’s Marine regiment was disbanded.1 He was able to re-raise his regiment as The Huntington Regiment on 1 June 1715.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 31st Huntington Regiment of Foot.1 Lt.-Col. George Blakeney resigned his commission in 1718 to his nephew Lt.-Gen. William Blakeney, 1st and last Baron Blakeney of Castle Blakeney.1
