Stair Francis Barton Dalrymple-Hay was born on 21 January 1872.1 He was the son of Colonel George James Dalrymple-Hay and Amelia Emily Maitland.2 He married, firstly, Laura Mary Edith Catherine de Bouillion Wickham, daughter of Colonel Edmund Hill Wickham and Princess Eugenie Palaeologue, on 27 September 1893.1 He married, secondly, Dorothea Aimee Ellen Dighton-Probyn, daughter of Major unknown Dighton-Probyn, on 20 August 1957.1 He died on 1 July 1963 at age 91.1
     He was educated at St. Paul’s School, London, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Chitral Relief in 1895.2 He fought in the North-West Frontier in 1908.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in desptaches.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Indian Army.1
