     Sir John Hugh Dalrymple-Hay, 7th Bt. was born on 16 December 1929.1 He was the son of Colonel Brian George Rowland Dalrymple-Hay and Beatrice Inglis.2 He married Jennifer Phyllis Roberta Johnston, daughter of Brigadier Robert Johnston, on 6 October 1962.1 He died on 20 January 2009 at age 79.3
     He was educated at Blundell’s School, Tiverton, Devon, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Korean War, with 1st Battalion, King’s Own Scottish Borderers, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Scots Fusiliers.1 He lived in 2003 at Little Meadow, Forty Green Road, Knotty Green, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Dalrymple-Hay, of Park Place, co. Wigtown [G.B., 1798] on 21 September 2005.4
