     Sir Sidney Barton was born on 26 November 1876.¹ He was the son of Captain James Barton and Mary Barbara Barclay.¹ He married Mary Ethel Winifred MacEwen, daughter of Alexander Palmer MacEwen, on 23 July 1904.¹ He died on 20 January 1946 at age 69.¹
     He was educated at St. Paul’s School, London, England^G.¹ He entered HM Consular Service in 1895 at China^G.¹ He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1910 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-law.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1913.¹ He was the Consul-General between 1922 and 1929 at Shanghai, China^G.¹ He was the Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary between 1929 and 1937 to Ethiopia^G, (Ethiopia).¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1930.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1936.¹

     Mary Ethel Winifred MacEwen was the daughter of Alexander Palmer MacEwen.¹ She married Sir Sidney Barton, son of Captain James Barton and Mary Barbara Barclay, on 23 July 1904.¹ She died in April 1945.¹
     From 23 July 1904, her married name became Barton.¹ She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1937.¹

     James Alexander Barclay Barton was born on 28 December 1905.¹ He was the son of Sir Sidney Barton and Mary Ethel Winifred MacEwen.¹ He married Margaret Alden Hartigan, daughter of Rear Admiral Charles Conway Hartigan, on 4 October 1933.¹ He died on 3 October 1940 at age 34.¹
     He was educated at Malvern College, Malvern, Worcestershire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1926 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹

     Margaret Alden Hartigan is the daughter of Rear Admiral Charles Conway Hartigan.¹ She married James Alexander Barclay Barton, son of Sir Sidney Barton and Mary Ethel Winifred MacEwen, on 4 October 1933.¹
     From 4 October 1933, her married name became Barton.¹ As of 1976, Margaret Alden Hartigan lived at 1063 Thomas Jefferson Street, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.^G.¹

     Rear Admiral Charles Conway Hartigan was the Naval Attaché to the United States Embassy at Peking, China^G.¹ He lived at Annapolis, Maryland, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Hugh Charles Barclay Barton was born on 23 July 1935.¹ He is the son of James Alexander Barclay Barton and Margaret Alden Hartigan.¹ He married Karen Eileen McCauley, daughter of Lyle J. McCauley, on 8 April 1961.¹
     He was educated at Ridley College, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada^G.¹ He was educated at Colgate University, Hamilton, Madison County, New York, U.S.A.^G.¹ He was educated at University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S.A.^G.¹ He was in the service of the United States Army.¹ He was a freelance travel writer and public relations specialist.¹ He was formerly a journalist and tourist promoter in the Far East.¹ As of 1976, Hugh Charles Barclay Barton lived at 2236 Sandfiddler Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Karen Eileen McCauley is the daughter of Lyle J. McCauley.¹ She married Hugh Charles Barclay Barton, son of James Alexander Barclay Barton and Margaret Alden Hartigan, on 8 April 1961.¹
     From 8 April 1961, her married name became Barton.¹

     Lyle J. McCauley lived at Mason City, Iowa, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Hugh Charles Barton was born on 27 November 1961.¹ He is the son of Hugh Charles Barclay Barton and Karen Eileen McCauley.¹
