Lt.-Col. Robert Thomas Flower, 8th Viscount Ashbrook1 
He was given the name of Robert Thomas Walker at birth. On 15 July 1847 his name was legally changed to Robert Thomas Flower. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 4th Battalion, Leinster Regiment, Royal Canadians.2 He succeeded as the 8th Viscount Ashbrook [I., 1751] on 26 November 1906.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baron Castle-Durrow, co. Kilkenny [I., 1733] on 26 November 1906.3

Kilkenny [I., 1733] on 30 August 1936.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery (Territorial Army.)2 He fought in the Second World War.2 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1945.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cheshire between 1946 and 1968.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Cheshire in 1949.2 He was a member of the Council of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1957 and 1995.2 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire between 1961 and 1968.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1977.2
