Alexander Mackay, 8th Lord Reay1

     Alexander Mackay, 8th Lord Reay was born in 1775.2 He was the son of Hon. George Mackay of Skibo and Anne Sutherland.3 He married Marion Gall, daughter of Colonel unknown Gall, on 8 April 1809.2 He died on 18 February 1863, with another s (died young) and five other daughters:.2
     He gained the rank of officer in the Gordon Highlanders.2 He retired from the military in 1817, with the rank of Major, late of the Sutherland Highlanders.2 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Mackay [N.S., 1627] on 8 July 1847.2 He succeeded as the 8th Lord Reay, of Reay, co. Caithness [S., 1628] on 8 July 1847.2
