Antrim and Gallowhill, Paisley, Renfrewshire [U.K., 1903] on 13 April 1930.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire in 1952.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1959.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Hampshire between 1962 and 1973.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire between 1973 and 1982.1

Nancy Elizabeth Louise Hardy Beaton1 
Nancy Elizabeth Louise Hardy Beaton was the daughter of Ernest Walter Hardy Beaton and Etty Sisson.4,5 She married Sir Hugh Houston Smiley, 3rd Bt., son of Major Sir John Smiley, 2nd Bt. and Valerie Champion de Crespigny, on 18 January 1933.1 She died in 1999.1
From 18 January 1933, her married name became Smiley.

He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Cyprus Campaign between 1958 and 1959.2 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Bermuda between 1961 and 1962.2 He retired from the military in 1986, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the Grenadier Guards.2 He was with Russell Reynolds Associates between 1986 and 1989.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Smiley, of Drumalis, Larne, co. Antrim and Gallowhill, Paisley, Renfrewshire [U.K., 1903] on 1 November 1990.1 He was Master of the Worshipful Company of Grocers between 1992 and 1993.2 He lived in 2003 at Cornerway House, Chobham, Surrey, EnglandG.2
