     Richard Armstrong was the son of Reverend Anthony Armstrong and Jane Sadleir.¹ He married Sarah Potts, daughter of William Potts, on 15 June 1819.¹
     He lived at Nodstown, Cashel, County Galway, Ireland^G.¹ He was commissioned in 1807.¹ He retired from the military in 1818, late of the 70th Regiment, formerly of the 56th Regiment.¹ He lived at Regaile, Cashel, County Galway, Ireland^G.¹ He was living in 1847; aged 56.¹

     Sarah Potts was the daughter of William Potts.¹ She married Richard Armstrong, son of Reverend Anthony Armstrong and Jane Sadleir, on 15 June 1819.¹
     From 15 June 1819, her married name became Armstrong.¹

     William Potts lived at Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland^G.¹

     Major-Gen. William Andrew Armstrong was born on 13 May 1824.² He was the son of Richard Armstrong and Sarah Potts.¹ He married Emma Sarah Deane, daughter of Captain George Deane, on 7 August 1851.² He died on 2 March 1894 at age 69.²
     He fought in the Crimean War.¹ He fought in the Siege of Sebastopol.² He gained the rank of Colonel in the 22nd Regiment.¹ He lived at Kingstown, County Dublin, Ireland^G.¹

     Emma Sarah Deane was the daughter of Captain George Deane.¹ She married Major-Gen. William Andrew Armstrong, son of Richard Armstrong and Sarah Potts, on 7 August 1851.¹ She died on 20 January 1892.¹
     From 7 August 1851, her married name became Armstrong.¹

     Captain George Deane lived at Harwich, Essex, England^G.¹

     Major Richard Armstrong was born on 21 March 1862.¹ He was the son of Major-Gen. William Andrew Armstrong and Emma Sarah Deane.¹ He married Ethel Annie Schomberg, daughter of Charles Marsh Schomberg and Sarah Elliott, on 21 July 1891 at St. John the Evangelist, Pendlebury, Lancashire, England.^1,2 He died on 20 October 1899 at age 37.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the 2nd Cheshire Regiment.¹ He lived at 11 The Terrace, Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.¹

     Ethel Annie Schomberg was born circa 1865.² She was the daughter of Charles Marsh Schomberg and Sarah Elliott.³ She married Major Richard Armstrong, son of Major-Gen. William Andrew Armstrong and Emma Sarah Deane, on 21 July 1891 at St. John the Evangelist, Pendlebury, Lancashire, England.^1,2 She died in 1931.¹
     From 21 July 1891, her married name became Armstrong.¹

     Sir Charles Marsh Schomberg was born in 1779.² He was the son of Captain Sir Alexander Schomberg and Arabella Susanna Chalmers.² He died on 2 January 1835 at Carlisle Bay, Barbados, unmarried.²
     He gained the rank of Captain on 6 April 1803 in the Royal Navy.² He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 4 June 1815.² He was appointed Knight Commander, Hanoverian Order (K.C.H.) on 21 September 1832.² He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Dominica.² He lived at Hendon, London, England^G.¹

     Colonel Robert Anthony Armstrong was born on 21 November 1892.¹ He was the son of Major Richard Armstrong and Ethel Annie Schomberg.¹ He married Eleanor Justina Murray, daughter of Major William Murray, on 8 June 1926.¹ He died in 1965 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.²
     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War, in Iraq and Mohmand.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He held the office of Assistant Secretary for the Empire Parliamentary Association.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹ He held the office of Chairman, Dumfries and Galloway Development Association.¹ He edited the book The Quest.¹
