     2nd Lieutenant George Mervyn Archdale was born on 14 August 1896.¹ He was the son of Audley Mervyn Archdale and Mary Scott Elphinstone.¹ He died on 30 April 1917 at age 20, killed in action. He was unmarried.¹
     He fought in the First World War.¹ He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Berkshire Regiment.¹
