     John McNair was born on 13 April 1855.² He was the son of Duncan McNair and Catherine Gibb.³ He married Jeannie Ballantyne, daughter of John Ballantyne, on 11 April 1884.²

     Marjorie Bailhache was the daughter of Sir Clement Meacher Bailhache and Fanny Elizabeth Liebstein.^1,2 She married Arnold Duncan McNair, 1st Baron McNair, son of John McNair and Jeannie Ballantyne, on 28 March 1912.¹ She died on 22 January 1971.³
     From 28 March 1912, her married name became McNair.¹ After her marriage, Marjorie Bailhache was styled as Baroness McNair on 4 August 1955.

     Sir Clement Meacher Bailhache was born on 2 November 1856 at Leeds, Yorkshire, England.³ He was the son of Reverend Clement Bailhache and Emma Meacher.³ He married Fanny Elizabeth Liebstein, daughter of Herman Liebstein, in 1881.³ He died on 8 September 1924 at age 67 at Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England.³
     He lived at Totteridge, Hertfordshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at City of London School, London, England^G.³ He was educated at London University, London, England.³ He was appointed Knight in 1912.³ He held the office of High Court Judge in 1912.⁴

     Clement John McNair, 2nd Baron McNair was born on 11 January 1915.¹ He was the son of Arnold Duncan McNair, 1st Baron McNair and Marjorie Bailhache.¹ He married Vera Frances Faithfull, daughter of Theodore James Faithfull, on 16 November 1941.² He died on 7 August 1989 at age 74.¹
     He was also known as John.² He was educated at Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at King’s College Choir School, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.² He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1945, in Tunisia, Italy and Austria, and he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.² He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.² He wrote the book Wagonload, published 1971.² He succeeded as the 2nd Baron McNair, of Gleniffer, co. Renfrew [U.K., 1955] on 22 May 1975.¹ He wrote the book A Place called Marathon, published 1976.² He was member of the General Advisoy Council IBA between 1978 and 1989.² He was member of the UK Delegation Council of Europe on WEU.²
