     Lt.-Col. Thomas Smijth Odell was born on 16 December 1866.1 He was the son of Thomas Scruton Odell and Madeleine Roe.1 He married Henrietta Cecilia Urquhart, daughter of Major David Dunlop Urquhart, on 12 September 1895.1 He died on 29 October 1949 at age 82.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Battalion, Highland Light Infantry.1 He lived at Kilcleagh Park, Moate, County Westmeath, IrelandG.1
