     He was awarded the Air Force Cross (A.F.C.)1 He gained the rank of officer in 1933 in the Royal Air Force.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1941 in the Indian Army.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1948 in the Royal Army Service Corps.1
