     Mabel Woodruff was born in 1876 at Stockport, Cheshire, England^G.² She married, firstly, Francis Neville Carter in 1907 at Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales^G.^1,2 She married, secondly, Sydney Egerton Cotton, son of Charles Calveley Cotton and Kate de la Rue, on 2 July 1923.¹ She died on 31 July 1954 at Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales^G.^1,2
     From 1907, her married name became Carter.¹ From 2 July 1923, her married name became Cotton.

     Colonel Vere Egerton Cotton was born on 5 May 1888.² He was the son of Charles Calveley Cotton and Kate de la Rue.² He married Elfreda Helen Moore, daughter of William Francis Moore, on 2 February 1922.² He died on 19 November 1970 at age 82.²
     He was educated at Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire, England^G.² He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet Colonel in the Territorial Army.² He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.² He was awarded the Croca de Guerra.² He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.² He gained the rank of Honrary Colonel in the 470 Heavy AA Regiment, Royal Artillery (Territorial Army.)² He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1927.² He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1937.² He held the office of Alderman of the City of Liverpool.² He held the office of Lord Mayor of Liverpool between 1951 and 1952.² He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Liverpool University, Liverpool, Lancashire, England^G, in 1953.² He held the office of High Sheriff of Lancashire in 1956.² He held the office of Pro-Chancellor of Liverpool University.² He lived at Langdale, Grassendale Park, Liverpool, Lancashire, England^G.¹

     Verena Frances Elizabeth Chichester was born in 1906.¹ She is the daughter of Major Spencer Frederick Chichester and Helen Elizabeth Coats.¹ She married Commander Derek Howard Secker in 1931.¹
     From 1931, her married name became Secker.¹ She lived in 2003 at Les Chomettes, Avenue Font-de-Veyre, Cannes, France^G.¹

     Commander Derek Howard Secker married Verena Frances Elizabeth Chichester, daughter of Major Spencer Frederick Chichester and Helen Elizabeth Coats, in 1931.¹ He died in 1988.¹
     He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.¹ He was appointed Lieutenant, Royal Victorian Order (L.V.O.)¹

     Simon Arthur Cotton was born on 17 August 1924.¹ He was the son of Colonel Vere Egerton Cotton and Elfreda Helen Moore.² He married Barbara Helen Ralston Sutcliffe, daughter of Albert James Sutcliffe, on 18 June 1960.¹ He died on 11 March 2003 at age 78.¹
     He was educated at Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was admitted to Gray’s Inn in 1951 entitled to practise as a barrister.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He lived in 2003 at 22 Amenbury Lane, Harpenden, Hertfordshire, England^G.¹

     Albert James Sutcliffe lived at The Church Cottage, Dodleston, Cheshire, England^G.¹

     Barbara Helen Ralston Sutcliffe is the daughter of Albert James Sutcliffe.² She married Simon Arthur Cotton, son of Colonel Vere Egerton Cotton and Elfreda Helen Moore, on 18 June 1960.¹
     From 18 June 1960, her married name became Cotton.

     William Andrew Calveley Cotton was born on 27 November 1962.¹ He is the son of Simon Arthur Cotton and Barbara Helen Ralston Sutcliffe.² He married Antonia Cremin, daughter of Michael Desmond Cremin, in 2003.¹
