     Sir William Frederick Coates, 1st Bt. was born on 1 March 1866.¹ He was the son of David Lindsay Coates and Sara Mulligan.² He married Elsie Millicent Gregory, daughter of Colonel Frederick William Gregory, on 27 November 1907.¹ He died on 19 January 1932 at age 65.¹
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Belfast.¹ He was a senior partner of William F. Coates and Company.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Antrim.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Belfast in 1906.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Belfast.¹ He held the office of Lord Mayor of Belfast between 1920 and 1922.¹ He held the office of First Senator [Northern Ireland] in 1921.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Coates, of Haypark, in the City of Belfast [U.K.] on 15 July 1921.¹ He held the office of Lord Mayor of Belfast between 1929 and 1930.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of County Antrim in 1931.¹

     Colonel Frederick William Gregory gained the rank of Colonel in the Essex Regiment.¹

     Elsie Millicent Gregory was the daughter of Colonel Frederick William Gregory.² She married Sir William Frederick Coates, 1st Bt., son of David Lindsay Coates and Sara Mulligan, on 27 November 1907.¹ She died on 26 June 1958.¹
     She was Honorary Burgess of Belfast.¹ From 27 November 1907, her married name became Coates.

     Brigadier Sir Frederick Gregory Lindsay Coates, 2nd Bt. was born on 19 May 1916.¹ He was the son of Sir William Frederick Coates, 1st Bt. and Elsie Millicent Gregory.² He married Joan Nugent Spinks, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Charlton Watson Spinks and Marguerite Coleman, on 20 September 1940.¹ He died on 24 June 1994 at age 78.^1,3
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Coates, of Haypark, in the City of Belfast [U.K., 1921] on 19 January 1932.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War, in North Africa and North-West Europe, where he was twice wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Royal Tank Regiment.¹

     Jean Ann Dorothy Coates is the daughter of Sir William Frederick Coates, 1st Bt. and Elsie Millicent Gregory.² She married Thomas Roland Lecky Sinclair, son of Sir Kenneth Duncan Lecky Sinclair, on 7 December 1938.¹
     From 7 December 1938, her married name became Sinclair. She lived in 2003 at 610 Bridlespur Lane, Earlysville, Virginia, U.S.A.^G.¹

     Sir Kenneth Duncan Lecky Sinclair is the son of Rt. Hon. Thomas Sinclair.² He married Elleanor Laura Clark, daughter of Lt.-Col. James Jackson Clark and Mary Elizabeth Lenox-Conyngham, on 15 April 1914.¹
     He lived at Beech Leigh, Windsor Park, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland^G.³ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)³ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy Reserve.³ He lived in 1976 at 44 Windsor Park, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland^G.¹ He had one daughter.¹

     Thomas Roland Lecky Sinclair was the son of Sir Kenneth Duncan Lecky Sinclair.² He married Jean Ann Dorothy Coates, daughter of Sir William Frederick Coates, 1st Bt. and Elsie Millicent Gregory, on 7 December 1938.¹ He died in 1991.¹

     Francis David Nicholas Sinclair was born on 26 August 1940.¹ He is the son of Thomas Roland Lecky Sinclair and Jean Ann Dorothy Coates.² He married, firstly, Peggy Elizabeth Biller in 1963.¹ He and Peggy Elizabeth Biller were divorced in 1966.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Virginia Otto in 1984.¹
     He lived in 2003 at Earlysville, Virginia, U.S.A.^G.¹
