James Ulysses Graham Raymond Colborne-Vivian, 4th Baron Seaton of Seaton1

He was given the name of James Ulysses Graham Raymond Colborne at birth.1 He gained the rank of Nile Expedition between 1884 and 1885 in the where he was severely wounded.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1885 in the Sudan Frontier Force.1 He gained the rank of Major in the South Staffordshire Regiment.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1919.1 On 20 July 1927 his name was legally changed to James Ulysses Graham Raymond Colborne-Vivian by Royal Licence.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Seaton of Seaton, co. Devon [U.K., 1839] on 11 August 1933.1

He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Horse Guards.4 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Fuller-Eliott-Drake, of Nutwell Court and Buckland Abbey, co. Devon [U.K., 1821] on 6 June 1870.3 On 3 October 1870 his name was legally changed to Francis George Augustus Fuller-Eliott-Drake by Royal Licence.4

He was educated between 1848 and 1852 at University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, studying law.1 He was admitted to Scot’s Bar in 1853 entitled to practise as a Advocate.1 He held the office of Advocate-Depute between 1860 and 1862.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Kincardine in 1862.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Haddington and Berwick in 1869.1 He held the office of Judge of the Court of Session [Scotland] between 1872 and 1890.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1890.1 He was created 1st Baron Shand, of Woodhouse, co. Dumfries [U.K.] on 20 August 1892.1 He held the office of Lord of Appeal in Ordinary on 20 August 1892.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1
