(Conservative) for Tower Hamlets between 1874 and 1885.³ He held the office of Secretary of the Admiralty between 1885 and 1886.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Tower Hamlets, St. George Division between 1885 and 1892.³ He held the office of President of the Local Government Board between 1886 and 1892.³ He held the office of President of the Board of Trade between 1895 and 1900.³ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Croydon between 1895 and 1905.³ He gained the rank of Major in the 3rd Battalion, Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment.² He held the office of Home Secretary between 1900 and 1902.³ He held the office of Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1902 and 1903.³ He held the office of Lord Rector of Aberdeen University between 1902 and 1905.³ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for London.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Middlesex.² He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Buckinghamshire.² He was created 1st Baron Ritchie of Dundee, of Weldera, Chalfont St. Giles, co. Buckingham [U.K.] on 22 December 1905.² He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)²

     Captain Mark Lemon Ritchie Romer was born in 1894.¹ He was the son of Mark Lemon Romer, Baron Romer and Hon. Anne Wilmot Ritchie.¹ He died on 20 September 1916, from wounds received in action.¹ He was buried at Kensal Green Cemetery, London, England^G.²
     He gained the rank of Captain in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹

     Rt. Hon. Sir Charles Robert Romer was born on 19 January 1897 at Kensington, London, England^G.^1,2 He was the son of Mark Lemon Romer, Baron Romer and Hon. Anne Wilmot Ritchie.¹ He married, firstly, Lorna Buchanan, daughter of Brigadier K. J. Buchanan, on 8 July 1919.¹ He married, secondly, Frances Evelyn Lebeau Kemp, daughter of Alfred Kemp, on 31 July 1925.¹ He died in 1969.²
     He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps.¹ He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, where he was wounded, and mentioned in despatches twice.¹ He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.¹ He was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn in 1921 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.¹ He was appointed King’s Counsel (K.C.) in 1937.¹ He held the office of Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn in 1943.¹ He held the office of Judge of the High Court, Chancery Division in 1944.¹ He held the office of Lord Justice of Appeal between 1951 and 1960.¹

     Lorna Buchanan is the daughter of Brigadier K. J. Buchanan.¹ She married Rt. Hon. Sir Charles Robert Romer, son of Mark Lemon Romer, Baron Romer and Hon. Anne Wilmot Ritchie, on 8 July 1919.¹
     From 8 July 1919, her married name became Romer.¹

     Veronica Ritchie Romer is the daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir Charles Robert Romer and Lorna Buchanan.¹ She married J. H. Whitaker in 1944.¹
     From 1944, her married name became Whitaker.¹

     J. H. Whitaker married Veronica Ritchie Romer, daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir Charles Robert Romer and Lorna Buchanan, in 1944.¹

     Frances Evelyn Lebeau Kemp is the daughter of Alfred Kemp.¹ She married Rt. Hon. Sir Charles Robert Romer, son of Mark Lemon Romer, Baron Romer and Hon. Anne Wilmot Ritchie, on 31 July 1925.¹
     From 31 July 1925, her married name became Romer.¹

     Alfred Kemp lived at The Cottage, Epping, Essex, England^G.¹

     Mark Lemon Robert Romer was born on 12 July 1927.¹ He is the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Charles Robert Romer and Frances Evelyn Lebeau Kemp.¹ He married Philippa Maynard Tomson, daughter of M. Tomson, in 1953.¹
