He was educated at Messingham Church of England School, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.1 He was a builder and contractor.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lincolnshire, Brigg Division between 1929 and 1931.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lincolnshire, Brigg Division between 1935 and 1945.1 He was created 1st Baron Quibell, of Scunthorpe, co. Lincoln [U.K.] on 7 July 1945.1 He held the office of Mayor of Scunthorpe in 1953.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1

Yorks. [U.K.] on 1 July 1938.1 He was created 1st Baron Ramsden, of Birkenshaw, West Riding of co. Yorks. [U.K.] on 17 June 1945.1 On his death, his titles became extinct.1
