[Ireland] in 1897.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Antrim in 1898.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Royal University of Ireland, IrelandG, in 1899.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Down in 1899.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1903.1 He was created 1st Baron Pirrie [U.K.] on 17 July 1906.1 He was Comptroller of the Hosuehold of the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland between 1907 and 1913.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of St. Patrick (K.P.) in 1908.1 He held the office of Lieutenant of the city of Belfast in 1911.1 He was member of the War Office Supply Board in 1916.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1918.1 He lived at Belfast, County Antrim, IrelandG.2 He held the office of Member of the Senate [Northern Ireland] in 1921.1 He was created 1st Viscount Pirrie, of Belfast [U.K.] on 9 July 1921.1
