Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Henry Clive was born on 23 December 1877.3 He was the son of Charles Meysey Bolton Clive and Lady Katherine Elizabeth Mary Julia Feilding.4,3 He married Hon. Magdalen Muir Mackenzie, daughter of Kenneth Augustus Muir Mackenzie, 1st and last Baron Muir Mackenzie and Amelia Graham, on 10 July 1905.1 He died on 13 May 1948 at age 70.4
He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.3 He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3 He was with the Diplomatic Service between 1902 and 1939.5 He was General-Consul for Bavaria between 1923 and 1924.3 He was General-Consul for Morocco between 1924 and 1926.3 He was Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipoteniary to Persia between 1926 and 1931.3 He was Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipoteniary to the Holy See between 1933 and 1934.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1934.5 He held the office of Ambassador to Belgium between 1934 and 1937.3 He held the office of Ambassador to Japan between 1934 and 1937.3 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1936.5
