Lt.-Col. Sir Edmund Yeamans Walcott Henderson was born on 19 April 1821 at Muddiford, Hampshire, England.3 He was the son of Admiral George Henderson and Frances Elizabeth Walcott-Sympson.3 He married, firstly, Mary Murphy in 1848.3 He married, secondly, Maria Hindle, daughter of Reverend J. Hindle, in 1857.3 He died on 8 December 1896 at age 75 at 4 Gledhow Gardens, London, England.3
He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.3 He held the office of Comptroller-General of Convicts [Western Australia] between 1850 and 1863.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1862 in the Royal Engineers.3 He was Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.1
