     Major Cecil Leander John Bowen was born on 11 June 1895.2 He was the son of George John Bowen.2 He married Maisie Pedley, daughter of Major Oswald Henry Pedley, before 1940.1 He died on 15 May 1940 at age 44 at Narvik, NorwayG, killed in action.1,3 He was buried at Narvik Civil Cemetery, Narvik, NorwayG.3
     He fought in the Second World War. He gained the rank of Major in the 1st Battalion, Irish Guards.1
