John Jestyn Llewellin, 1st Baron Llewellin1 
John Jestyn Llewellin, 1st Baron Llewellin was born on 6 February 1893 at Chevening, Kent, England.1,3 He was the son of William Llewellin and Frances Mary Wigan.1 He died on 24 January 1957 at age 63 at Harare, Zimbabwe.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Garrison Artillery.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, where he was wounded.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1917.1 He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1917 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1920 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1921 entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1926.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Middlesex, Uxbridge Division between 1929 and 1945.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel and Brevet Colonel of the Dorset Heavy Brigade, Royal Artillery between 1932 and 1938.1 He held the office of Lord of the Admiralty between 1937 and 1939.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1939.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1941.1 He held the office of Minister of Aircraft Production in 1942.2 He was chairman of the British Supply Council between 1942 and 1945.1 He was created 1st Baron Llewellin, of Upton, co. Dorset [U.K.] on 12 September 1945.1 He held the office of Governor General of The Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland between 1953 and 1957.2 On his death his barony became extinct.2
