     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Territorial Army.)2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1945.2
