He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)1 He was educated at St. Bede’s School, Semaphore, South Australia, Australia.2 He was educated at Port Adelaide Public School, Port Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.2 He was one of the originators of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibitions.2 He was a member of the Otago Harbour Board between 1913 and 1920.2 He held the office of Mayor of Dunedin between 1923 and 1927.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [New Zealand] between 1925 and 1928, for Dunedin North.2 He lived at Beverley, 75 London Street, Dunedin, New ZealandG.1,2 He had four other sons and a daughter.2
