He was commissioned in 1799, in the service of the 58th Foot.2 He fought in the Cape of Good Hope Campaign in 1806.2 He fought in the Montevideo Campaign, where he was wounded.2 He fought in the capture of Buenos Aires.2 He fought in the Peninsular Wars.2 He fought in the Walcheran Expedition.2 He was appointed Knight, Hanoverian Order (K.H.) in 1835.2
