Sir Thomas John Clavering, 8th Bt.1 
In 1794 he raised a troop of yeomanry at his own expense.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Clavering, of Axwell, co. Durham [E., 1661] on 14 October 1794.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Northumberland in 1817.1
