     John Goldman Monk Monck was born in 1908 at Rottingdon, Sussex, England.2 He is the son of Major Charles Sydney Goldman and Hon. Agnes Mary Peel.3,2 He married Hon. Margaret St. Clair Sidney Thesiger, daughter of Frederick John Napier Thesiger, 1st Viscount Chelmsford and Hon. Frances Charlotte Guest, on 10 July 1934.1
     His name was legally changed to John Monck.1 He was given the name of John Goldman Monk Goldman at birth.2
