He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Craven of Hampsted Marshall, Berkshire [E., 1627] on 9 April 1697.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Berkshire between 1702 and 1711.2 He held the office of a Lord Proprietor of Carolina in 1705/6.2 He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 26 April 1706 with a Doctor of Civil Laws (D.C.L.)2 He held the office of Lord Palatine of Carolina in 1708.2
