     Captain Rev. Edward Noel Mellish, V.C. was born on 24 December 1880 at Barnet, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.2 He was the son of Edward Mellish.3 He married Elizabeth Wallace Molesworth, daughter of Lawrence Teesdale Molesworth and Anna Maria Caroline Wallace Bournes, on 3 December 1918 at St. Paul’s Church, Deptford, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 8 July 1962 at age 81 at South Petherton, Somerset, EnglandG.2
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He fought in the First World War.4 He gained the rank of Temporary Chaplain in 1915 in the Army Chaplain’s Department.4 He was awarded the Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 20 April 1916, for his actions on 27-29 March 1916.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)5 He lived at The Court House, South Petherton, Somerset, EnglandG.5
