He was given the name of Henry Gough at birth.1 He was educated from 22 April 1762 to 1767 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bramber between 1774 and 1796.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Gough, of Edgbaston, co. Warwick [G.B., 1728] on 8 June 1774.3 On 7 May 1788 his name was legally changed to Henry Gough-Calthorpe by Royal Licence.1 He was created 1st Baron Calthorpe, of Calthorpe, co. Norfolk [Great Britain] on 16 June 1796.1
