     John Sinclair, Lord Berriedale was born on 20 July 1788.¹ He was the son of James Sinclair of Mey, 12th Earl of Caithness and Jean Campbell.² He died on 1 June 1802 at age 13 at Barrogill Castle, Caithness, Scotland^G, unmarried.³
     He was styled as Lord Berriedale.¹

     Alexander Campbell Sinclair, 13th Earl of Caithness was born on 24 July 1790 at Barrogill Castle, Caithness, Scotland^G.² He was the son of James Sinclair of Mey, 12th Earl of Caithness and Jean Campbell.³ He married Frances Harriet Leigh, daughter of Very Rev. William Leigh and Jane Elizabeth Canning, on 22 November 1813 at Mortlake, Surrey, England^G.² He died on 24 December 1855 at age 65 at 17 Rutland Square, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.²
     He gained the rank of officer in 1807 in the Army.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Caithness between 1823 and 1855.¹ He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Sinclair, of Canisbay, co. Caithness [N.S., 1631] on 16 July 1823.¹ He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Caithness [S., 1455] on 16 July 1823.¹

     Frances Harriet Leigh was the daughter of Very Rev. William Leigh and Jane Elizabeth Canning.^1,2 She married Alexander Campbell Sinclair, 13th Earl of Caithness, son of James Sinclair of Mey, 12th Earl of Caithness and Jean Campbell, on 22 November 1813 at Mortlake, Surrey, England^G.³ She died on 23 August 1854 at 17 Rutland Square, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.³ She died intestate and her estate was administered on 6 November 1858, at under £450.³
     From 22 November 1813, her married name became Sinclair. After her marriage, Frances Harriet Leigh was styled as Countess of Caithness on 16 July 1823.

     James Sinclair, 14th Earl of Caithness was born on 16 December 1821 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.³ He was the son of Alexander Campbell Sinclair, 13th Earl of Caithness and Frances Harriet Leigh.⁴ He married, firstly, Louisa Georgiana Philips, daughter of Sir George Richard Philips, 2nd Bt. and Hon. Sarah Georgiana Cavendish, on 17 July 1847 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.³ He married, secondly, Marie de Mariategui, Duchess of Pomar, daughter of Senor Don José de Mariategui, on 6 March 1872 at Windsor Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.³ He died on 28 March 1881 at age 59 at 5th Avenue Hotel, Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S.A.^G.³ He was buried at Holyrood Palace Chapel, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.³ His will was proven (by probate) on 25 October 1881 at Caithness, Scotland^G.³
     He succeeded as the 14th Earl of Caithness [S., 1455] on 24 December 1855.¹ He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Sinclair, of Canisbay, co. Caithness [N.S., 1631] on 24 December 1855.¹ He held the office of Lord-in-Waiting between 1856 and 1858.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Caithness between 1856 and 1881.³ He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1858 and 1868.¹ He held the office of Lord-in-Waiting between 1859 and 1866.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 22 November 1862.³ He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Caithness.¹ He was created 1st Baron Barrogill, of Barrogill Castle, co. Caithness [U.K.] on 1 May 1866.¹ He invented a steam carriage and compass.¹

     Cecilia Duckworth is the daughter of Reverend William Arthur Duckworth.² She married Harold Yorke Lidderdale Smith, son of Rev. Canon Sidney Lidderdale Smith and Hon. Frances Mary Scarlett, in 1893.^1,2
     From 1893, her married name became Smith.¹

     Louisa Georgiana Philips was born on 27 February 1827.² She was the daughter of Sir George Richard Philips, 2nd Bt. and Hon. Sarah Georgiana Cavendish.^3,4 She married James Sinclair, 14th Earl of Caithness, son of Alexander Campbell Sinclair, 13th Earl of Caithness and Frances Harriet Leigh, on 17 July 1847 at St. George’s Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England^G.⁴ She died on 31 July 1870 at age 43 at Barrogill Castle, Caithness, Scotland^G.⁴ She died intestate and her estate was administered on 12 December 1870, at under £1,000.⁴
     From 17 July 1847, her married name became Sinclair. She succeeded as the Countess of Caithness on 24 December 1855.

     George Philips Alexander Sinclair, 15th Earl of Caithness was born on 30 November 1858 at Hill Street, Berkeley Square, London, England^G.² He was the son of James Sinclair, 14th Earl of Caithness and Louisa Georgiana Philips.³ He died on 25 May 1889 at age 30 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G, unmarried.²
     He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Caithness between 1881 and 1889.¹ He succeeded as the 15th Earl of Caithness [S., 1455] on 28 March 1881.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Barrogill, of Barrogill Castle, co. Caithness [U.K., 1866] on 28 March 1881.¹ He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Sinclair, of Canisbay, co. Caithness [N.S., 1631] on 28 March 1881.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Caithness Artillery Volunteers.¹
     On his death, the Barony of Barrogill became extinct.¹

     Lady Fanny Georgiana Elizabeth Sinclair was the daughter of James Sinclair, 14th Earl of Caithness and Louisa Georgiana Philips.² She died on 11 October 1883, unmarried.¹

     Reverend Sydney Scarlett Smith was born in 1861.¹ He was the son of Rev. Canon Sidney Lidderdale Smith and Hon. Frances Mary Scarlett.¹ He married Marie Margery Aglafa O’Malley, daughter of Sir Edward Loughlin O’Malley, on 14 January 1909.^1,2
     He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)² He was Vicar at Hentland, Ross, Herefordshire, England.²
