John Edward Keith Rae was born on 28 May 1919 at Hoylake, Cheshire, EnglandG.2 He married, firstly, Naomi Angela Pattinson in 1951.2 He and Naomi Angela Pattinson were divorced.2 He married, secondly, Gillian Mary Brazier-Creagh, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Kilner Rupert Brazier-Creagh and Elizabeth Mary Magor, in 1986.2 He died on 27 March 2010 at age 90.2
He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Second World War, where he escaped from France in 1940, and fought at El Alamein.2 He gained the rank of officer in the 97th (Kent Yeomanry) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He was a director of the Isle of Man Bank and the Isle of Man Steamship Company.2 He was a partner of Parr & Rae, stockbrokers at Liverpool, Lancashire, EnglandG.2
