     Admiral John Luce was born on 4 February 1870 at Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England^G.¹ He was the son of Colonel Charles Richard Luce and Mary Visger.¹ He married Mary Dorothea Tucker, daughter of Alfred Harris Tucker and Mary Ann Haynes, in 1902. He died on 22 September 1932 at age 62.¹
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1914.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Wiltshire between 1930 and 1931.¹ He lived at Cheverell House, Devizes, Wiltshire, England^G.¹

     Mary Dorothea Tucker was born in 1873 at Frome, Somerset, England.² She was the daughter of Alfred Harris Tucker and Mary Ann Haynes.^1,2 She married Admiral John Luce, son of Colonel Charles Richard Luce and Mary Visger, in 1902. She died in 1965 at Mere, Wiltshire, England.²

     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Volunteer Service Company, Wiltshire Regiment.² He fought in the Boer War.²
