Lt.-Col. Donald Cardross Flower Erskine, 16th Earl of Buchan was born on 3 June 1899.3 He was the son of Montagu Erskine, 6th Baron Erskine of Restormel Castle and Florence Flower.1 He married Christina Baxendale, daughter of Hugh Woolner, on 5 January 1927.3 He died on 26 July 1984 at age 85.4
He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG.3 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He fought in the Second World War.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 9th Lancers.3 He succeeded as the 7th Baron Erskine of Restormel Castle, co. Cornwall [U.K., 1806] on 9 February 1957.3 He succeeded as the 16th Lord Auchterhouse [S., 1469] on 18 December 1960.3 He succeeded as the 16th Earl of Buchan [S., 1469] on 18 December 1960.3 He succeeded as the 11th Lord Cardross [S., 1610] on 18 December 1960.3
