Major Philip Neil Erskine was born on 20 August 1933.1 He was the son of General Sir George Watkin Eben James Erskine and Ruby de la Rue.3 He married Alice Fiona Radcliffe, daughter of Edward Copleston Radcliffe and Mona Ruth de la Rue, on 25 November 1960.1 He died on 23 July 2013 at age 79 at Stellenbosch, Cape Province, South Africa.2
He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG.3 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was a landscape artist.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Scots Guards.3 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of New Zealand between 1959 and 1960.1 He was Equerry to HRH The Duke of Gloucester between 1962 and 1964.3 He was awarded the Sina Varde Shell Foundation Gold Medal for conservation.1 He lived in 2003 at Ida’s Valley Homestead, Stellenbosch, Cape Province, South AfricaG.1
