     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Hannay, of Mochrum, co. Kirkcudbright [N.S., 1630] on 8 January 1657/58.2 He gained the rank of Captain of Foot in 1661.2
     On his death, his baronetcy became dormant for nearly 100 years.2
