Sophia Dirom was born in 1764.1 She was the daughter of Alexander Dirom and Anne Fotheringham.1 She married Captain George Duff, son of James Duff and Helen Skene, on 6 May 1791 at Fintray, ScotlandG.1 She died in 1827.1 She was buried at Greyfriars, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
From 6 May 1791, her married name became Duff.1

William Henry Fortescue, 1st Earl of Clermont1
William Henry Fortescue, 1st Earl of Clermont was born on 5 August 1722.3 He was the son of Thomas Fortescue and Elizabeth Hamilton.1,3 He married Frances Cairnes Murray, daughter of Colonel John Murray and Mary Cairnes, on 29 February 1752.4 He died on 30 September 1806 at age 84 at Old Steyne, Brighton, Sussex, EnglandG, without male issue.5 He was buried on 10 October 1806 at Little Cressingham, Norfolk, EnglandG.5 His will was proven (by probate) in February 1807.5
He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, on 8 January 1738/39.6 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Louth between 1745 and 1761.3 He held the office of Sheriff of County Louth in 1746.3 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, in 1754.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Montagu Borough between 1761 and 1770.3 He held the office of Postmaster-General [Ireland] between 1764 and 1784.3 He was created 1st Baron Clermont, of Clermont, co. Louth [Ireland] on 26 May 1770.3 He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of County Monaghan between 1775 and 1805.3 He held the office of Governor of County Monaghan between 1775 and 1806.3 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] on 5 May 1775.3 He was created 1st Baron Clermont, of Clermont, co. Louth [Ireland] on 23 July 1776, with special remainder to his brother, James Fortescue.3 He was created 1st Viscount Clermont, of Clermont, co. Louth [Ireland] on 23 July 1776, with special remainder to his brother, James Fortescue.3 He was created 1st Earl of Clermont, co. Louth [Ireland] on 10 February 1777.5 He was Customer and Collector of the Port of Dublin between 1784 and 1806.5 He was appointed Knight, Order of St. Patrick (K.P.) on 30 March 1795.5
On his death, his first barony and his earldom became extinct.5
