     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Staffordshire between August 1646 and December 1648.¹ He held the office of Governor of Leek, for the Parliamentarians.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Army.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newcastle-under-Lyme between 1656 and 1658.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1660.¹ He was appointed Knight on 30 May 1660.¹ He was created 1st Baronet Bowyer, of Knipersley, co. Stafford [England] on 11 September 1660.¹ He held the office of Sheriff of Staffordshire from 1662 to 1663.¹

     From 2 September 1919, her married name became Alison.¹

     Mary Milward was born circa 1630.¹ She was the daughter of Robert Milward.¹ She married Sir John Bowyer, 1st Bt., son of Sir William Bowyer and Hester Skeffington, on 4 April 1648 at Snitterton, Derbyshire, England^G.¹ She died circa June 1665.¹ She was buried on 6 June 1665 at Leek, Staffordshire, England^G.¹
     From 4 April 1648, her married name became Bowyer.¹

     Elizabeth Egerton is the daughter of Sir Ralph Egerton.¹ She married Sir John Bowyer, 1st Bt., son of Sir William Bowyer and Hester Skeffington, on 11 September 1665.¹
     She was also known as Anne Egerton.¹ From 11 September 1665, her married name became Bowyer.¹
