He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Midhurst in 1614.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bramber between 1621 and 1642.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Surrey from 1626 to 1627.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Sussex from 1626 to 1627.1 He was created 1st Baronet Bowyer, of Leythorne, co. Sussex [England] on 23 July 1627.1 His last will was dated 20 January 1648/49. On 18 May 1650 he was fined £2,033 as a delinquent.1
He had twelve other surviving children.1
