     William Osbert Boothby was born on 7 January 1866.1 He was the son of Reverend Evelyn Boothby and Margaretta Jane Carr.1 He married Hilda Lambert Swiney, daughter of Captain Henry Stephen Swiney, on 17 August 1907.1 He died on 20 May 1913 at age 47.1
     He fought in the Egyptian Campaign in 1882.1 He gained the rank of Commodore, 1st class in the Royal Navy.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.)1 He fought in the Boxer Rebellion in 1900.1
