     Lieutenant Richard John Owen O’Neil-Roe was born on 3 June 1918 at Lahore, Punjab, India.² He was the son of Lt.-Col. Charles Douglas Roe and Daisy Blanche Marion Mackenzie-Kennedy.² He married Nancy Letitia Whitaker Bovill on 24 June 1939 at All Saints Church, Ascot, Berkshire, England.² He died on 26 June 1942 at age 24, killed over Strangford Loch, Ireland while doing running up trials before joining H.M.S. Illustrious.²
     He was given the name of Richard John Owen Roe at birth.² He fought in the Second World War.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant (A) in the Royal Navy.¹
