William Howard, 1st and last Viscount Stafford1 
He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in February 1625/26.2 He was educated at St. John’s College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was created 1st Baron Stafford, co. Stafford [England] on 12 September 1640.1 He was created 1st Viscount Stafford [England] on 11 November 1640.1 On 7 December 1680 he was attainted for high treason for participation in the Popish Plot (falsely accused by Titus Oates.)2 In 1838 his attainder was reversed.2

He was given the name of Henry Howard at birth.1 He gained the rank of Colonel of Foot in 1688.1 In 1688 his name was legally changed to Henry Stafford-Howard.1 He was created 1st Earl of Stafford [England] on 5 October 1688, with a special remainder to his brothers and their male issue.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Stafford, of co. Stafford [E., 1640] on 13 January 1693/94, de jure.1 He was a Jacobite following the Glorious Revolution.1

John Stafford-Howard 
He was given the name of John Howard at birth.1 He was Controller and Commissioner of King James II’s Household in exile in 1696.1 He was King James II’s Ambassador to King Louis XIV when the former was exiled at St. Germain in March 1695/96.1 He was Vice-Chamberlain to Queen Mary of Modena (King James II’s widow) in 1701.1

Thomas Howard, 5th Duke of Norfolk was born on 9 March 1626/27 at Arundel House, The Strand, London, EnglandG.3,4 He was the son of Henry Frederick Howard, 22nd Earl of Arundel and Lady Elizabeth Stuart.3 He died on 13 December 1677 at age 50 at Padua, ItalyG, unmarried.3
