Peerage Record – 1696

     Frances Baring was born on 23 August 1813.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Baring, 2nd Bt. and Mary Ursula Sealy.¹ She married Henry Labouchere, 1st and last Baron Taunton, son of Pierre César Labouchère and Dorothy Elizabeth Baring, on 10 April 1840.¹ She died on 25 May 1850 at age 36.¹
     Her married name became Labouchere.

     Hon. Eva Isabel Marion Bruce was born on 17 June 1892.¹ She was the daughter of Major Henry Campbell Bruce, 2nd Baron Aberdare of Duffryn and Constance Mary Beckett.¹ She married, firstly, Algernon Henry Strutt, 3rd Baron Belper, son of Henry Strutt, 2nd Baron Belper and Lady Margaret Coke, on 26 April 1911 at St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster, London, England^G.^1,3 She and Algernon Henry Strutt, 3rd Baron Belper were divorced in 1922.¹ She married, secondly, Albert Edward Harry Mayer Archibald Primrose, 6th Earl of Rosebery, son of Archibald Philip Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery and Hannah de Rothschild, on 24 June 1924.¹ She died on 29 January 1987 at age 94.¹
     From 26 April 1911, her married name became Strutt. From 24 June 1924, her married name became Primrose. After her marriage, Hon. Eva Isabel Marion Bruce was styled as Countess of Rosebery on 21 May 1929. She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Buckinghamshire.¹ She was appointed Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 1955.¹ She graduated from University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G, in 1957 with a honorary Doctor of Laws (LL.D.)¹ She was awarded the Chevalier, Legion of Honour.¹

     Lady Elizabeth Egerton was the daughter of John Egerton, 3rd Earl of Bridgwater and Lady Jane Powlett.^1,2 She married Thomas Catesby Paget, Lord Paget, son of Henry Paget, 1st Earl of Uxbridge and Mary Catesby, on 6 May 1718 at Gray’s Inn Chapel, London, England^G.¹ She died on 18 February 1735/36.³ She was buried on 26 February 1735/36 at West Drayton, London, England^G.¹
     Her married name became Paget.

     Lady Mary Feilding was born circa 1668.¹ She was the daughter of William Feilding, 3rd Earl of Denbigh and Mary King.³ She married Evelyn Pierrepont, 1st Duke of Kingston-upon-Hull, son of Robert Pierrepont and Elizabeth Evelyn, on 27 June 1687. She died circa 17 December 1697.¹ She was buried on 20 December 1697.
     Her married name became Pierrepont.

     William Feilding, 3rd Earl of Denbigh was born on 29 December 1640.¹ He was the son of George Feilding, 1st Earl of Desmond and Bridget Stanhope.¹ He married, firstly, Mary King, daughter of Sir Robert King and Frances Folliott.¹ He married, secondly, Lady Mary Carey, daughter of Henry Carey, 2nd Earl of Monmouth. He died on 23 August 1685 at age 44.¹
     He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Callan, co. Kerry [I., 1622] on 31 January 1665.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Feilding of Lecagh, co. Tipperary [I., 1622] on 31 January 1665.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Desmond, co. Kerry [I., 1622] on 31 January 1665.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Denbigh [E., 1622] on 28 November 1675.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Feilding [E., 1622] on 28 November 1675.¹ He succeeded as the 3rd Baron of Newnham Paddockes, co. Warwick [E., 1620] on 28 November 1675.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron St. Liz [E., 1665] on 28 November 1675.²

     Mary King was the daughter of Sir Robert King and Frances Folliott.¹ She married, secondly, William Feilding, 3rd Earl of Denbigh, son of George Feilding, 1st Earl of Desmond and Bridget Stanhope.¹ She married, firstly, Sir William Meredyth, 1st Bt., son of Sir Robert Meredyth and Anne Ussher.¹ She died in 1669.
     After her marriage, Mary King was styled as Countess of Desmond. Her married name became Feilding.¹ Her married name became Meredyth.¹

     Lady Elizabeth Cavendish was born on 22 February 1654.¹ She was the daughter of Henry Cavendish, 2nd Duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Frances Pierrepont.¹ She married, firstly, Christopher Monck, 2nd Duke of Albemarle, son of George Monck, 1st Duke of Albemarle and Anne Clarges, on 30 December 1669 at The Cockpit, Whitehall, London, England^G.¹ She married, secondly, Ralph Montagu, 1st Duke of Montagu, son of Edward Montagu, 2nd Baron Montagu of Boughton and Anne Winwood, on 8 September 1692.¹ She died on 28 August 1734 at age 80 at Newcastle House, Clerkenwell, London, England^G, without surviving issue.¹ She was buried on 11 September 1734 at Westminster Abbey, Westminster, London, England^G.¹ She died intestate and her estate was administered on 4 November 1734.¹
     From 30 December 1669, her married name became Monck.¹ After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Cavendish was styled as Duchess of Albemarle on 3 January 1669/70. Lady Elizabeth Cavendish also went by the nick-name of ‘the Mad Duchess’.¹ From 8 September 1692, her married name became Montagu. After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Cavendish was styled as Countess Montagu on 8 September 1692. After her marriage, Lady Elizabeth Cavendish was styled as Duchess of Montagu on 14 April 1705.

     Margaret St. John was the daughter of Sir John St. John and Margaret Waldegrave.¹ She married, firstly, William Gostwick, son of Sir John Gostwick, before 1555.¹ She married, secondly, Francis Russell, 2nd Earl of Bedford, son of John Russell, 1st Earl of Bedford and Anne Sapcote, before 1556.¹ She died on 27 August 1562 at Woburn, Bedfordshire, England^G.¹ She was buried on 10 September 1562 at Chenies, Buckinghamshire, England^G.¹
     She was Lady of Honour to either Queen Mary or Queen Elizabeth I.² From before 1555, her married name became Gostwick.¹ From before 1556, her married name became Russell.¹ After her marriage, Margaret St. John was styled as Countess of Bedford before 1561.

     Robert Arbuthnott of that Ilk was the son of David Arbuthnott of that Ilk and Elizabeth Durham.¹ He married, firstly, Margaret Wishart, daughter of James Wishart, before 1475.¹ He married by contract, secondly, Mariot Scrymgeour, daughter of Sir James Scrymgeour of Dudhope and Margaret Maitland, on 10 September 1475. He died circa 1506.¹
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [Scotland] in 1487.¹ In February 1487/88 he had a charter of the lands of Portatown, Kincardine.¹ On 20 October 1488 he had a charter of the lands of Arduthie.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) [Scotland] in 1491.¹

     Mariot Scrymgeour was the daughter of Sir James Scrymgeour of Dudhope and Margaret Maitland.^1,2 A contract for the marriage of Mariot Scrymgeour and Robert Arbuthnott of that Ilk was signed on 10 September 1475. She died in 1518.¹
     From 10 September 1475, her married name became Arbuthnott.¹
     She had three younger sons and seven daughters by her husband, Robert.¹
